Skala Lounge at Larnaca Airport - My Personal Experience

Here's my honest take on the Skala Lounge at Larnaca International Airport (LCA). I visited during low season so the lounge was not crowded with only a handful of people in the lounge. The lounge has a hidden entrance so you might miss it if not paying close attention. The Skala Lounge entrance is located near Chanel in the duty free section. Once you've found the entrance then there's an elevator to take you to the third floor.
๐ Quick Facts
Location: Larnaca International Airport, Cyprus
Terminal: Single terminal building
Lounge Hours: 5:00 AM - 11:00 PM daily
How I Accessed: Priority Pass
Visit Date: November 24, 2025
Time of Day: Afternoon
๐ฏ First Impressions
During the low season, expect the lounge to be nearly empty, which makes for a very relaxed and quiet experience. I imagine that during the high season, however, a pre-booked reservation would likely be necessary due to increased demand. As a side note, many of the surrounding cities felt like ghost towns, with numerous beachfront resorts and hotels closed during this time of year.
Back to the lounge itselfโits food selection is truly impressive. The variety of hot dishes, snacks, spreads, breads, and accompaniments is abundant and well thought out, easily exceeding expectations and making it stand out compared to most airport lounges.

๐ What I Actually Liked
The Space & Design
There's plenty of room for the solo traveler with a personal chaise and a view of the tarmac. Another space for families with cushiony couches and small end tables (not best for eating). High top tables, normal tables with seating for four people, and kids can play games, learn a couple Greek words, and watch movies on an iPad. This is a multi-purpose lounge for ALL types of travelers. I will admit though the food is a bit of a distance from the eating area.

Yummy for Your Tummy
Great amount of food even for the pickiest eater. There are plenty of spreads, variety of breads, snacks, bite-sized desserts, etc. The hot food left a bit to be desired but the other food made up for the lacking hot food.

You Won't Go Thirsty
Expect to enjoy apple, pineapple, multi-berry, orange, and lemonade juices. All these juices seemed fresh and high-quality. There's the usual alcoholic drinks like tequila, gin, vodka, rum, and whiskey. Bottled soft drinks from Coke to Sprite to Fanta so if you're a Coke person they've got you covered.

The Staff & Service
The staff were friendly and helpful, though service was minimal since it's mostly self-service. They kept the food and beverage areas well-stocked and maintained cleanliness throughout the lounge.
The Amenities
The lounge offers free Wi-Fi with good connectivity, making it easy to work or stream content. There's a business center area with workstations, though I didn't use it during my visit. Unfortunately, there are no showers available at this lounge, which is a downside for longer layovers.
๐ What Disappointed Me
Pay for Custom Cocktails?

Who would pay for cocktails when you can make them yourself with the alcohol and numerous chasers. True, you can't make a margarita or espresso martini but why pay just make a long drink unless you've got leftover euros.
Smokey Patio Area
Outdoor area is nice but if you're allergic to smoke or have asthma, I highly suggest avoiding the patio as it smells like cigarette. There were only four people in the area: two men by the door smoking cigarettes and a couple at the other end of the patio.

๐ค The Reality Check
Who Should Actually Use This Lounge?
This lounge is good for ALL travelers from couples to groups to families with children.
Is It Worth Paying For?
I would recommend paying for the lounge if you plan to be at the airport for more than 2 hours. If the lounge is rather pack, then you could probably stay longer the maximum 3 hours. The food is plentiful and drinks numerous from a variety of juice, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages.
The Cyprus Factor
The lounge reflects Mediterranean hospitality with its generous food spreads, fresh breads, and relaxed atmosphere. The variety of local and international options gives it a welcoming, laid-back vibe that's characteristic of Cyprus.
๐ก My Honest Verdict
Rating: 5/5
The Bottom Line
The Skala Lounge at Larnaca Airport offers excellent value with its extensive food and beverage selection. While it lacks some premium amenities like showers, the quality and variety of offerings make it a solid choice for travelers with Priority Pass access, especially during the low season when it's not crowded.
When to Visit
Best time to visit is anytime of the day from November to March. No need to pre-book a reservation because there will be plenty of space to relax and enjoy the atmosphere before your flight.
Pro Tips from My Experience
- Finding the entrance: Look for the Chanel store in the duty-free section - the lounge entrance is nearby and easy to miss
- Best timing: Visit during low season (November-March) to avoid crowds; high season may require pre-booking
- Avoid the patio: If you're sensitive to smoke, skip the outdoor area as it's a designated smoking zone
- Food location: The food area is a bit of a walk from the main seating, so grab what you need in one trip
- Stay duration: Plan to stay 2-3 hours to get your money's worth, especially if you're paying for access
๐ Final Thoughts
I would consider paying for this lounge based on the amount and variety of food and beverages. Vegetarians and vegans will not go hungry with the options available like fruit, breads, cooked vegetables, etc. During the high season, I'm sure it would be wise to pre-book the lounge to avoid waiting in line.
This review reflects my personal experience during my visit to Larnaca Airport. Lounge amenities, hours, and services may change. Always verify current information directly with the lounge before visiting.
